Disclaimer - This post may be a bit off taste as it could trigger bad memories. But it is still required to serve us as a warning sign of what it could become.
I remembered there was a time, at his place, we both did something so random (manually), and ended up having the word "RENT" appearing - I guess this is the sign, and that's why I chose to put this one up today.
Initially I thought the rent was renting the house together, but the reality and the situation, just made it impossible, at that time. In hindsight, I realised that we also had troubles with the rental company of cars... and suddenly it all made sense. I won't go in details with the rental company and its issue, and instead uncovering what problem that our future could hold if "Assurance" and our lines of defenses are collapsed, left with no funding or simply being ignored....
Do you still remember the Bourke St Mall incident?
Before I go ahead - I pay my respect to those who suffered in this horrible event. And as a matter of fact, during that incident, I was actually in the CBD, literally one street down, or just missed it by chance. So obviously this is related to car, right? I guess if crazy people want to do anything crazy, they will find a way. So here I will just focusing on the vehicle itself and it is sort of aligning to my recent post of "Don't Want You To Know". So how do we be safe? Is it this simple to get rid of crazy drivers on the road? To be fair, I don't think it was that simple. In this day and age, you don't even need a person in the car to do this....
Why?
Car can already drive itself, park itself..... what else can it does? I had come across a car that you can even just ignite it using your phone through an app. What else? Unlock it? No problem. Horn? No problem. Light? No problem. AC? Sure you got it. Sounds very convenient right? If accident does happen, it is the owner / driver's fault I believe, this is at least the current legal standing point and extending it to the manufacturer's liabilities. So far so good...
So how does it work when it comes to rental cars? Imagine one day, somewhere, someone isn't happy about something, and hijacked the phone / app, and that "connected" car started to do all sort of random things - aka driving fanatically to find the lost lover (owner), all restrictions were wiped through unauthorised firmware updates. Who would be at fault? Car company? mm.... well, it is unauthorised... the owner of the phone? It was stolen....Car rental company? eh... I am sure they would argue otherwise. So who would be at fault? You may say the one who "sent" the final instruction?! Not quite, because it could well be done via zombie systems. At this point, I think it is already a nightmare for law enforcement. The question is, is this available today or in the future?! If this can be done today, and coupled with the ever increasing risk of cybercrime, ransomwares etc.... I suppose someone ought to look into it further right?
PS: I had an awful experience with that rental company and I was being accused with all sort of things. At this point, I still wish my life is different, not being subject to negative things for things that I haven't done. I have already been stripped down to nothing, and I wonder how much time is left for me......
Update:
After posting this, me being me, within the hour, I guess I went through a couple more songs from Rent, then checked who died on 3-4 of Dec 3 years ago. Found Duchess of Grafton - Fortune FitzRoy. Then a couple more songs, from Delta, Missy.... ended up with this news.
Just like usual - I will add my 2cents to the story and from a legal standpoint.... So what would happen for the "passenger"? Through out a song, I got a glimpse of what could be a big problem for us.... Lawyer: Your Honor, he/she was the passenger of the moving vehicle at the time of crash....
Judge: Who started the car? Lawyer: It appears the car started itself.
Judge: What other proof, evidence do we have? QC: .........................................................................................................
And another thank you / respect for Ann Fortune FitzRoy, Duchess of Grafton. No wonder I said nurse last night. Didn't I?
