Productivity

I actually find it a bit awful for the employer to post something like this. It is kinda stupid and perhaps a perfect example of using science in a stupid way. I can certainly understand how the calculation works, but it is also one-sided. It is like stupid people counting productivity using "number of email sent" as a core task timing, for a managerial / leadership position.

For those who worked in communication, they would appreciate the difference between a good comms vs a poorly drafted one. A good one, may take longer time to create, but it has its audience in mind, tailored perfectly for them, so the intended message can be provided effectively. It saves time for message ping pong, misunderstandings, lessen potential adverse emotions etc... anyway - back to this post.... Just as I suspected - people (employees) are not stupid, when employers are doing that sort of things, it really leads to retaliation, which in the end, no winner on either side (pretty much like any kind of war). Anymore examples? Sure - here is another one WFH.

50 hours a month, actually it isn't that bad anyway. From a workforce perspective, I believe it is aimed at 85-90% for core tasks, for operation roles. I wonder if they have considered the cost of losing morale, team engagement, motivation, diverted task (due to negative sentiments) etc....these have all impact to the productivity. If you did look at those comments in the post, you would see people already posted something like - ok I will do a 30mins-1hour poo during work time, aka IBS... this really ventures into the (difficult) basket due to employment law, regulations and I think the prefer option is to best avoid getting into that situation in the first place. This is no joking matter as I have seen it in many workplaces before. E.g. the work toilet is filled with people after lunch time and the channel usage and "AHT" - average handling time "PEAKED" during that time M-F! If that is the case, I wonder if daily corporate catering with more vegetarian option would help with reducing the AHT and increases the productivity.... sigh...

Are there more crazy stuff can happen in the workplace? Yes of course. Smart ones will lead the pack, and "readjust" the core task timing.... what does it mean? Like taking 15-20mins to log in to the system, from 5mins etc. If the full team is taking that long to log in, what can the manager says anyway? Lesson here is, if you don't treat people (employee) with respect, the same shit is going to happen. Equally, if employees don't treat their employer, leaderships with respect, life is just going to be difficult. In this world, why can't we just be reasonable, no one is perfect, and trouble employees are often shown in the yearly review anyway. Micromanaging is just so yesterday... and I am sure a meeting / face to face / private setting would be a better communication method (for message like this)!

PS: Hey... I have noticed that recently you have been spending more time in the bathroom, is everything ok? This is very different to how you used to be.... treat them like a human being, life is not always fine and dandy, things happen whether you like it or not - but at least I'd rather have one more friend, than one more necessary enemy.

Joke: Response you may get could be - yeah I have developed the IBS, ever since you cut cost and changed to the cheaper corporate catering supplier. I think I am definitely more used to the clean / professional / premium / more expensive option, so I can work more effectively for you. Oh wait, here is also the doctor certificates and blah blah blah..... Manager: ...... oh shit.. I am going to call HR later.
