I often wonder if gay people are like a bridge.... Think about it as Male / Female spectrum and it doesn't necessary need to be sex topic related. I think it is best illustrate it with just examples.

  • Man wearing high-heels. For those who do, I am sure they know, it is not something particularly comfortable to start with, the balance, the inconvenience, it is mostly for confidence, the look, for the partner, a lot of reasons other than comfort itself. It is like a form of sacrifice to enhance other things / people. But I am sure some people just don't understand that.

  • I am sure a lot of men wouldn't understand the problem with bigger boobs. How annoying it can be. I guess they might be more focus on the selfish reason... and never really think of the practical issues - heaviness, health, even daily change of comfort from period etc. As if they really understand and care right?!

  • Emotions / Caring / all other in between attributes.... I can go on and on with this... but understand that even within gay community, there is a spectrum. Hence I said it is more like a bridge, and somewhere in between it is a like advocate on both side. Like a gay man can understand both male & female. Not saying others can't, but perhaps through experience, how they normally function etc, so it increases the probability of doing so.

Speaking of advocate, I wonder if a female spokesperson speaking for female would be more effective, or a gay man speaking up for a female. I suppose from a man's perspective, the gay person may do a better job (closer to the neighbor - like brothers), so that the female (topic pro female) end up getting better value through effective communication. Obviously this is just my opinion, but I wonder if there is some truth to it. Back in the days, gay people have fag hags... do they still exist? Where are all the allies now? Or have we now gone back to square one, where the division occurs again.... is this why I feel more disconnected than before? Or am I just being more observant to see this trend?!

So is gay a division in itself? No way, gay men end up teaching men to understand female better. And at the same time, helping female to get closer to men. Lesbians do the same too. It is just like diversity ends up bringing people together.... don't you think so? Can you imagine a world where Irish eats Irish food only, American eats American food only... Asian eats Asian food only? No thank you! Please bring back the international, like a buffet.

PS: Beauty of being different - it is lovely, embrace it. Why not?
