How To Save A Life (1)

Saw this news this morning and it resonates very well with me, in terms of how we can truly save lives like this.

To me - It is all of us, not just the side that we believe in. It is like root cause analysis but goes into the deep end. Because each story often comes with at least two sides and it is really down to how far do you go, and more importantly - the intention and for what purpose.

For example, after reading that news, I often have more questions than not, and at times, those questions are actually better than "answers" itself. That is why I try to be open minded as much as I could, because what we knew past, could be different today and certainly can change again in the future. Past bad experiences, once learnt, are already what we are enjoying currently, and so we can make it even better for the future.

So back to this article, it is a sad story and I think, instead of just parents / school etc, everyone can actually contribute to it, as a society.

  • Just like any other families, without the understanding or the awareness, how would they teach their kids, so this type of events can be reduced?

  • What caused the bullying? Is there more problems? Do they also need to be solved?

  • Why others kids didn't stop it?

  • Think about our current society in the adult world. Kids are like our world's mirror. If we are on the street, seeing bad things happening, ask ourselves, how many will stop and do something? If the answer is no, then would this be the reason itself?

  • Do we really care? Maybe that's the ultimate question, to us, to everyone else. If we don't, then it means our world will just turn into isolations, just a matter of time, before it falls apart. Would you agree?

PS: Another examples are like....

  • Oh I'm not "gay", if you come near me, I will .....

  • I'm a male, so this is what it means to be "masculine"......

  • I'm a female, so this is what feminism means....

While I think what you do is your own business but at least we can teach our kids not to judge or necessary to think that parents know it all. In fact, we don't, and I think keeping innocent eyes are just as important for anyone, both kids or adults.

How often do we say, I'm your parents, so you must "listen"? Or do we say.... Oh, that's a good question, and maybe I got it wrong too, why not we find it out together?
